American Speeches for Womens Right to Vote -myassignmenthelp

Question: Discuss about theAmerican Speeches for Womens Right to Vote. Answer: Susan B. Anthonys speech on womens right to vote The purpose of Ms. Anthonys speech was to champion for womens right to vote in United States of American. She claims that women were being denied the right to vote or participate in American elections by men yet the same was guaranteed under the National constitution of America as well as those of individual states. To support her claim she makes reference to the fact that when the government was being formed it needed the consent of everyone in US including women. That, the government was formed on the basis of equal rights to all men and women, citizens of America, without any bias or discrimination to any group of citizens or individual. (Linder, Douglas) She urges her audience to make reference to the constitution, by looking at the law logically (logos). She asserts that if the government was created through the consent of all the people how then can half of the population (Women) be alienated from voting, a process that puts in place a government? Ms. Anthony used Toulmin metho d of argumentation in her speech. (Worth, Richard) This is because she focused on strengthening her narrative on the law and justice to all and limiting her scope to the issue of womens right to vote. This is consistent with the Toulmin form or way of putting up an argument. She does not introduce new claims her speech other than what she begun with. (Linder, Douglas). References Linder, Douglas.
